Today more than ever, any art, particularly music, is seen as a disposable product. People discount the courage of creativity, as well as it's authentic power in beautifying a moment, and how that ripples beyond ... Every musical note played, paint brush stroked, even camera clicked can contribute to a more glorious cosmos tomorrow. Be brave and create. ~Jill Dawson

Jill Dawson is a Chicago based Singer/Songwriter. She has released 2 full length CDs, an EP and various singles. Her music has been distributed nationally via Midwest based record label, Emphasis Music, as well as across Europe. Her songs have been played on public and college radio stations, from east to west coast, and in a multitude of European countries, including Spain, Germany, France, and Russia. She also topped the Adult Contemporary chart on Australia's MP3.com while she resided there.
Her live performances have captivated audiences, featured as a performer at Midwest Artist Network's Songwriter Spotlight, Folk Alliance via CRM Management's lineup, as well as a multitude of Midwest venues and songwriter showcases. Jill also founded FAB Chicago, a networking organization for female musicians which hosted sold-out performances at the legendary Heartland Cafe in Rogers Park.
After a break from music to start a family, she's returned with a catalog of new songs infused with jazz, blues, and acoustic soul influences. Since then, her music has been featured on WGN, Seventeen Magazine's Peace Body Blog, and endorsed by Dove's Self Esteem Fund's Global Ambassador, Jess Weiner. In 2010, her song "Never Home" (co-written with Greg Steele) was recorded by the winner of the Midwest Artist Search, Gaia Galvan.
Jill also launched a not for profit endeavor called the MELODY FOR CHANGE PROJECT to generate positive social change and empower youth through music, kicking it off with the release of "WHEN I DREAM." This acoustic anthem encouraging girls to be bold, unique, and dream big is currently the theme for children's apparel company Pigtail Pals. Jill also partnered with nonprofit LeaderSpark, writing a theme for their fundraising campaign called "Change Our World Together." This past year, she also wrote and produced the music for the teen-focused organization We Stop Hate which won Nickelodeon's Halo Award in 2012, and was recently endorsed by Lady Gaga.
Currently, Jill is recording her 3rd full length CD with Redfish Recording with release date not yet set. In the meantime, she is sharing her limited edition EP "Basement Tracks" at shows, and a remastered version will be available for online distribution soon.

I wanted to let you know how much I like your newest song, Only One. I've listened to it several times since you first posted it. Wow! ... In particular how the melody is not just a vehicle for expressing the lyrics, but adds significantly to the emotional impact of the song. The song has the quality of many old favorites, even on first listening. Nice job!
